Alexa is a biomedical engineer originally from Kentucky, with a strong passion for advancing medical research and innovation. She graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a Certificate of Advanced Spanish Language. After completing a year of clinical research at UCLA, Alexa’s focus shifted to cardiothoracic research at Stanford University, where she is currently leading a project investigating a potentially novel gene in atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease.

In the spring, Alexa plans to apply to MD-PhD programs with the goal of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. Her long-term vision is to lead a laboratory focused on developing biotechnological cardiac devices that can transform patient care in cardiovascular medicine.
