2025-26 Teaching Assistant Roster
Global Teaching Project has added to its outstanding roster of 2025-26 Teaching Assistants so that each of GTP’s growing number of AP STEM classes continues to have its own dedicated tutor.
The current roster of Teaching Assistants includes over 50 STEM majors and recent graduates from leading universities around the country—including Yale, Harvard, University of Virginia, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Howard, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Dartmouth, University of Illinois, University of Maryland, University of Mississippi, University of North Caroina, and University of Wisconsin, among others.
Teaching Assistants are a key component of GTP’s blended instructional model, and work with AP STEM classes both in-person and virtually:
- Teaching Assistants conduct regular tutoring sessions—typically twice weekly—via videoconference during the academic year, helping students to dive deeply into the material and work through challenging concepts.
- Teaching Assistants also work with students in–person. TAs provide academic support at GTP’s university-based, residential instructional programs, including the annual Summer Preparatory Program at Mississippi State, and the Winter Review Program at Jackson State. TAs also visit campuses of participating high schools at the outset of the school year to help students adapt to the rigor of an AP STEM curriculum.
- Perhaps most importantly, Teaching Assistants mentor students, in addition to providing instruction. TAs provide guidance on the college application and financial aid process, help prepare students for standardized tests, and answer questions about college life. For many GTP students who are the first generation in their families to be college-bound, this support from TAs is a lifeline.
Teaching Assistants are selected not just for their academic talent, but also for their passion for working with young students, and their desire to support and meet the students’ needs. Those traits are evident in all that they do.
